BIO
D-Mo is a visual storyteller whose work transforms the complexities of identity, migration, memory, and survival into precise acts of presence. Her practice investigates what remains after rupture — how individuals reoccupy space, and how subtle shifts in perception alter meaning.
Born of Polish heritage and grounded in the Australian landscape, she has developed a body of work that bridges personal history with collective experience. Working across portraiture, conceptual photography, installation, and mixed media, she employs pared-back environments and deliberate spatial gestures to explore presence, absence, and symbolic elevation.
Over the past two decades, D-Mo has established an internationally recognised career. Her portraits — intimate, restrained, and psychologically charged — have been exhibited at institutions including the National Portrait Gallery in London, the United Nations Headquarters in New York, the Museum of Australian Photography in Melbourne, the Sydney Jewish Museum, and in 2025 at the Knesset, Jerusalem.
Her work has been recognised in major awards including the Olive Cotton Award (Winner, 2021) and multiple international portrait prizes.
Across her practice, D-Mo resists spectacle. Through singular images that transcend subject or format, she captures humanity with clarity and intensity, creating work that is at once personal and collective.
