HOLY CITY
Nothing makes a place holier than the competition of another religion.
I had the privilege to photograph a ceremony, where soldiers swear their commitment to the state. It was held by the training base called KFIR. The unit was called HARUV.
For me it was quite interesting to see one group of very young people (soldiers) pledging allegiance to protect and in effect be ready to sacrifice their own lives for the sake of their country and fellow citizens. But amongst them strict orthodox jews doing their daily ritual which in as an almost polar opposite to the first group …. To me this contrast highlighted one of the great and essential places on earth for communication between God and Man or something else.
